A Bridge between Travel Demand Modeling and Activity-Based Travel Analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
The focus of this paper is on the demonstration that some rather well-known networkbased formulations in operations research, that have heretofore largely gone unnoticed in activity-based travel research, offer a potentially powerful technique for advancing the general development of the activity-based modeling approach. These formulations can provide an analytical framework that unifies the complex interactions among the resource allocation decisions made by households in conducting their daily affairs outside the home, while preserving the utility-maximizing principles presumed to guide such decisions. A mathematical programming formulation is developed and used to identify the similarities and differences between traditional trip-based modeling methodologies and those pertaining to an activity-based approach. It is demonstrated that the two approaches are directly related.

Determination of Effective Travel Variables on Air Transport Demand with Using Structural Equation
Air transport system has always been involved in all aspects of life because of its high potential in transporting passengers and goods. In this research we surveys the effects of travel variables on demand of domestic air transport, and for gathering required information from passengers, a questionnaire was designed including 20 effective parameters on air transport demand with questions These...
متن کاملValue of Travel Time :Theoretical and Empirical Method
The value of travel time savings (VTTS) is the monetary value attached to save a determined amount of travel time. VTTS is also the most important benefit category aimed at justifying investments in transport infrastructures by public administrations. Hence VTTS played a significant role in various economic studies, both analytical and empirical (Zamparini & Reggiani, 2007). "It is difficult to...
متن کاملA Study of Factors Influencing Demand For Travel to Iran
In this paper the factors having influence on travel demand to Iran are paper explored. The hypothesis of the research specifies the variable of “domestic upheavals and insecurity” as the most significant obstacle to expansion of the demand for travel to Iran. To test the above hypothesis, first several demand models that have been proposed to study demand for tourism in different countries, ar...
متن کاملThe traffic and behavioral effects of the I-35W Mississippi River bridge collapse
The collapse, on August 1, 2007, of the I-35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, abruptly interrupted the usual route of about 140,000 daily vehicle trips and substantially disturbed the flow pattern on the network. It took several weeks for the network to re-equilibrate, during which period, travelers continued to learn and adjust their travel decisions. A good understanding of ...

although an integrated model is the final goal. Also, even with today’s computing power, an integrated model will inevitably require some strict assumptions that will reduce its application value to local specific problems. The classical way to forecast the results of such a complex choice process is to divide it into simpler subprocesses in a logical and tractable way. Models for these subproc...
